A Day in Columbia

Some girlfriends and I headed about an hour south of Nashville to the sweet town of Columbia, Tennessee! We fell in love with the southern charm, cute boutiques, delicious eats and the emerging arts scene of this small town! You’ll want to bookmark this to plan a trip of your own!

First stop: Coffee and donuts at Sweet Bakes

Sweet Bakes offers scratch made donuts, custom cakes and other delights to the community! The store front is open on Fridays and Saturdays in the Columbia Arts Building. You can also find Sweet Bakes in their ’74 Lincraft camper at farmer’s markets and special events! If you’ve always wanted to try your hand at cake decorating, they offer classes as well!

There’s never been a truer sentiment! The donuts ALWAYS win!

Next: The dreamiest quilt and crafting merchantile

Needle and Grain is a modern mercantile and studio featuring handmade quilts, home goods, supplies and much more!

I recently took a sewing class (I’m very much a beginner) but loved the apron I made! They are offering a Galentine’s Night on Thursday with tassel pillows and tacos! You can find their class schedule here Use code NASHVILLEMOM to save 15% off of classes!

If you’re looking for a new outfit or the perfect gift, stop by Lily Jane!

Lily Jane is located on the square and has so many affordable boutique dresses, tops, children’s toys and books, and gifts! I found my favorite new pair of jeans (they stretch, y’all!) the most comfortable pair of booties that I basically have worn every.single.day. The ladies are so friendly and it felt like I had been coming in for years!

My shopping partner in crime!

How pretty is the dressing room? And that little girl in it too!

Tell them the Nashville Mom sent you and receive 20% of your purchase of $20 or more!

All that shopping made us hungry, so we headed over to Cities for lunch! I had the best caesar salad! Some other lunch recommendations were The Dotted Lime and Red Seven Pizza (which is owned by a dear friend of mine, Maribeth)!

And we couldn’t let the day go by without something sweet!

Hattie Jane’s Creamery is an artisan ice cream shop featuring creative flavors, using seasonal and local ingredients. They make their ice cream, waffle cones, baked treats, including their famous Hattie’s Unicorn Hot Chocolate!

Stop by Hattie Janes in Columbia or Murfreesboro and mention “Nashville Mom” to receive a Buy One, Get One deal on a single scoop of ice cream or beverage (includes coffees and hot chocolates!) Deal is good through February 15th!

Duck River Books, located down from Hattie Jane’s is a quaint and beautifully designed book store! We could’ve stayed and looked for hours!

And you can’t make a trip to Columbia without stopping by Muletown Coffee!

Columbia is nicknamed the “Dimple of The Universe” for its uniqueness and charm! This city has so many beautiful things to offer! Make sure to stop by The Faded Farmhouse and Bleu 32 Antiques too!  One upcoming event that you’ll want to mark your calendar with is Mule Day! Mule Day is an annual celebration of all things related to mules and is located in Columbia, the “Mule Capital” of the world! Mule Day features a crafts festival, contests, barbecue, hand-made pies and a Mule Day Parade! The event will take place April 2nd-8th!

Hope you enjoyed this tour of Columbia! Let me know if you check it out! It’s become one of my favorite spots!

Grow Together: Back to Roots

Before moving to Nashville, we lived on a few acres and had a large garden full of watermelons, tomatoes and cantaloupe. My husband and son spent hours digging in the dirt, planting seeds and checking on the crops daily. Now, our yard is the size of a postage stamp and we have struggled wanting to… Continue Reading
