Summer time means long hours spent in the sun, chlorine filled swimming pools and a need to simplify your beauty regimen. Here are 3 DIY summer beauty recipes, featuring coconut oil, that will keep you looking beautiful with little effort this summer!

Coconut oil became hugely popular a couple years back and for good reason; it’s list of benefits is extensive. When it comes to your skin and hair, coconut oil is full of essential nutrients like lauric acid, fatty acids, Vitamin E and C. In other words, you should be using it in your beauty rotation because it’s 5 star qualified.
Here are 3 beauty product recipes you can make with things you likely already have in your kitchen:
Face Mask
Great for moisturizing and fighting blemishes so you can go makeup free
  • 1 Tbs coconut oil, room temperature
  • 1/3 ripe banana, smashed
  • Pinch of turmeric
Mix the ingredients together and apply to your clean face. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.
DIY Summer Beauty
Homemade Beach Wave Spray
Perfect to spritz on your hair after a day at the pool
  • Spray bottle
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 Tbs coconut oil, room temperature
  • 1 tsp pomade or gel
Combine all the ingredients in your spray bottle and shake. Apply to your damp hair and scrunch, scrunch, scrunch. Let your hair air dry and you’ll be looking like a total beach babe!DIY Summer Beauty
Boby Scrub
Say goodbye to sunburn peeling and hello to silky skin
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbs coconut oil, room temperature
Squeeze the lemon juice into a bowl. Add sugar and coconut oil and mix. Rub onto your dry skin, rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Extra Tip: Coconut oil can be applied directly to your hair (or your kids) to help protect it from sun and chlorine damage.
