A Letter from Lindsey

Hey!

It’s Lindsey here- creator of TNM. We really try to not get too personal here on TNM, but sometimes, we just need to chat, right? I want to talk about what’s going on around here, because, well, there’s a lot of new people and we have a lot of new plans!

First, some history. I often get asked why I started this site. To put it as simple as possible- I started it to help people. I felt like there was a need for this site. Sure, there are sites that have lists upon lists of things to do in Nashville, but they don’t offer the information most moms want to know: Are there changing tables in the bathrooms? Should I take my stroller or my baby carrier? Can I pack a lunch or just buy it there?  While these questions seem silly, for some moms (ie. me with my first child), they’re pretty important.

As a Nashville transplant and first time mom, I was petrified to leave the house and not know what to expect. So, once I had gained some mom-mojo, I decided it would be helpful to post about my experiences and some tips and tricks for Nashville outings with kids. I hope it is actually helpful.

We’ve obviously grown and expanded since the early months- covering  wider range of content and expanding beyond local-only posts. I also realized the need for community between moms and that’s why TNM started hosting events each month. We want to create a safe place with at least one familiar face (insert my crazy face) where you can spend time with your kids and with other moms- and hopefully create valuable friendships.

I really hope everyone feels comfortable at our events. Don’t know anyone? That’s totally ok! You know me, right? I’ll totally be your friend! I may put you to work, so watch out. ;)

 

We also brought on contributors to help with writing. I like to think I can do it all, but I’m not really that good. Our new contributors offer different perspectives and we are also able to “cover more ground”. We’ll definitely be bringing on some more contributors in the coming months, so be on the look out for that!

What’s next? Good question!

This month we are launching our Membership Program. Think about a playgroup on steroids- that’s pretty much what we are aiming for. :)

After that, who knows! (well, I kind of know, but I’m not telling yet!) We are always on the hunt for new ideas and opportunities that we can pass on to you.

Oh, and if you have an idea, I’m totally open to hearing it…

So, back to the “why” question: I do it because I honestly want to help people. Because I love this city. Because moms are awesome and we deserve to enjoy motherhood with other awesome moms.
