While I’m a former teacher, teaching my own children is completely different and a lot more challenging. We thrive on a schedule and routine, especially on days when we can’t get outside. I’m thankful for all the online resources that are available and of course, books! Here’s a glimpse of our daily “schedule”, of course this is flexible and if the sun is out, we are going to explore in the fresh air as much as possible.
9 a.m. Make beds, clean up room, get dressed
9:30 a.m. Devotional: We are reading through Jesus Calling for Kids
9:45-10:15 Movement: Walks, Dance Time, Go Noodle, Yoga (We’ve enjoyed Cosmic Yoga and 20 Online)
10:30-11:30- Journaling, math flash cards, workbooks, reading Charlotte’s Web together
11:30-12 Lunch
12-12:30 Chores (Empty trash, clean doors, dishes, put away laundry)
12:30-1:30 Technology Time (Scholastic Free Weekly Lesson Plans, Math Playground, Fun Brain, Storyline Online)
1:30-2 Creative Time (play doh, bracelet making, art, legos, music)
The key to a successful day is getting outside as much as possible and staying active. Sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, bikes, hula hoops, bubbles and balls are a few of my kid’s favorite ways to stay busy outside. Moms, don’t be too hard on yourselves-this is not easy on any of us! Not only is it hard for us but for the kids who have been thrown out of their regular schedules, classrooms and being with their friends and teachers. If you need to give you child a movie day, by all means do that! I’m continuing to pray for all of us and that life will get back to “normal” soon! Hang in there, everyone!
