Hi, person who is reading this, I’m Dottie. I’m really glad you’re a person that lives on this planet with me! [Internet high five] I’m an artist living in Murfreesboro, TN with my awesome husband and kitty cats, Dinosaur and Short Round. My most favorite way to do is art is photography and I mainly work with kids, since as you know, they are awesome. Art is my way to spread LOVE in the world! And LOVE changes the world…makes it better.
But, enough about me. Let’s talk about you! How are you doing? If you are anything like me, sometimes a simple “How are you doing?” from someone feels like a loaded question. All sorts of things can race through your mind when trying to come up with an answer, right? Like, Should I just say ‘Oh, fine.’ Or should I say, ‘Oh good, but busy!’ [Which BTW…someone told me one time, ‘busy is not a feeling’…and I love that…so true!] OR should I go all out and say, ‘Oh good. But XYZ is going on, and my life is crazy, and I forgot to eat today, and I haven’t showered in two days, and there’s a Cheeto in my hair because my kid was throwing Cheetos at me in the car, and etc. etc.’ This is life sometimes right? True story.
We live in a pretty fast paced world. Being truly present in our everyday lives with the people we care about and loving & caring for ourselves are not things that always come easy to us. For most people, when life gets nuts, the first thing to get ‘back burner-ed’ is self-care. But, let me give you a few reasons why self-care is really important: 1) You. Yep, YOU are important. Your happiness and fulfillment with life is important. Whoever you are, whatever you do, wherever you are reading this from…you are important and you matter in this world. We need you! 2) Another really important reason to care for yourself, every single person you come in contact with and every single person those people come in contact with. So basically, ‘every person on the planet’ is the reason. It’s the ripple effect. If you are loving and kind to yourself, you’ll be loving and kind to your family and friends. And so on, and so on. Love is contagious. Spread that love bug!
I want us all to live really amazing lives. Lives that we’re present for and that bring us, and the people we care about, joy, peace, happiness, and love. Create / Art / Love is a creativity workshop & community dedicated to expressing love, practicing mindfulness, and promoting self-care through the arts. Engaging your, mind, body, & soul, creatively is just one of many ways to practice mindful living, self-care & love. In this workshop we will explore different artistic mediums, and mindfulness practices, found to be helpful tools for coping with stressful situations and developing your own unique practice of self-care.
Our main activity will be art journaling. The practice of art journaling combines traditional journal writing and elements of the visual arts. There is no experience required for this workshop! So many people have said to me, ‘But I’m not creative.’ Well, I totally disagree! Everyone is creative in their own way. Right now, you may not be plugged into that creativity, but it’s there, I promise. I mean, c’mon…if you’re reading this you are probably a Mom, right? You created a person or multiple people even! What’s more creative than that?!
So, all that to say, I really hope you’ll join us on Saturday, June 6th from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at Blooma Nashville for a Create / Art / Love workshop. Wear your comfy clothes (yoga pants for life!) or dress up if you haven’t gotten an opportunity to do that in a while and that cute dress is collecting dust in your closet, bring some snacks or munch on some of ours, but above all…leave the kiddos at home! This is YOU time. You time is important. It makes you a better partner, a better Mom, a better friend, a better you.
Spots are limited, so sign up today!
Peace & Love,
Dottie XOXO
