Second Saturday brings full show lineup
Travel across planet Earth, learn what’s in the night sky over Nashville, or get grooving with musical laser shows this Saturday night, April 11, at the Sudekum Planetarium.
Second Saturday schedule:
6 p.m. – Dome Club Nashville presents Bella Gaia and Waiting Far Away
Prepare to be swept away as Bella Gaia takes the audience on a spectacular journey around planet Earth simulating the transformative effect astronauts feel while orbiting above. This poetic musical journey features astounding visualization from NASA and enveloping scenery from around the world. From ancient Egyptian tombs, Indian rituals, cherry blossoms, and city scenes in Tokyo and New York, Bella Gaia will show how humans and nature are connected in the same way that art and science are connected.
In Waiting Far Away, a space traveler has traveled too far and can’t figure out how to get home. This short film utilizes stunning imagery from the Charles Hayden Planetarium, mixing imagination with real data to create a visually striking fulldome presentation.
7 p.m. – Skies Over Nashville
Tour what’s up in the sky tonight! From constellations to planets and more, the audience will learn what they can see in the skies above their own backyards. Ask questions and make requests during this live, interactive tour of the sky. Fly into a black hole, find out what the Sun looks like on a given day, or watch the birth of a star – the opportunities are almost as endless as our universe!
8:30 p.m. – Laser Michael Jackson
Whether you have “the moves” or not, everyone can enjoy this Cosmic Concert featuring a variety of Michael Jackson’s musical masterpieces set to lasers, stars and special effects. Practice the ABCs and brave the Thriller in this tribute to the legendary performer.
9:30 p.m. – ElectroPop
This hot pop Cosmic Concert features lasers, millions of stars, and fulldome digital effects performing to some favorite tunes by Lady Gaga, Bastille, Pharrell Williams, Lorde, Demi Lovato, and Lil Jon & DJ Snake.
10:30 p.m. – She Blinded Me With Lasers (80s Classics)
Big hair, aviators and neon colors all perfectly accompany this flashback to the 1980s! Brilliant lasers, fulldome effects and millions of stars help viewers relive the decade with iconic artists such as Duran Duran, the Eurythmics, Tears for Fears and more.
