Fall is one of my favorite times of year! It’s not quite as busy as the holidays but all the colors of the leaves are so pretty and I go a little pumpkin crazy! I hosted some of my new neighbors over for brunch and pumpkin paint pours! I kept things super simple using paper plates and asking everyone to bring a dish too. {Not only do I obsess over pumpkins in the fall but all the themed paper plates and napkins too! I found these at Hester &Cook in Franklin}.
Each lady brought over their favorite fall dish, treat or drink! We had quiche, fruit, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread…ha, lots of pumpkin! It was so much fun to just enjoy brunch and chat.
And can you even have fall without candy corn or candy pumpkins?
LC and I had so much fun doing paint pours with ArtSmartKids TN, I decided to try it with neighbors too! They turned out sooo pretty!
For the paint pours, I picked up Tempera Paint from Hobby Lobby (you could use acrylic also). We also need some type of pour oil (You can also use baby oil and rubbing alcohol-but it’s almost impossible to find rubbing alcohol right now!) I also grabbed disposable aluminum pans, small plastic cups disposable gloves, lots of wipes and trash bags for this activity.
Instructions: Add your first color of paint to the plastic cup (about 1/4 of the way) Next, add a few drops of your pour medium (to keep the colors from mixing) Then, add your next layer of paint (roughly the same as the first color) You will then take your cup and pour directly on the pumpkin. You may have to gently shake your pumpkin around a little to get the paint to drizzle down. They will need to dry for a few days. Guests took their pumpkin in an aluminum pan to go so their car didn’t get messy.
Here’s another tutorial I found on Pinterest.
Even though I was a little stressed making sure the house was clean, I am so glad that I opened my home up to build new friendships. It’s definitely not always easy but always worth it! I encourage you to reach out to a friend to have them over for coffee or lunch-it will fill your cup in many ways!
