Now that I’m a mom, it’s a lot less weird to make animal-shaped pancakes for breakfast these days (not that I ever did that pre-baby or anything). Luckily my son, Levi, loves pancakes as much as I do, so we’ve made them somewhat of a weekend tradition in our house.
Pancakes have always been the way to my heart, so it’s shocking that my first time to The Pfunky Griddle was just a few weeks ago.
The Pfunky Griddle is a D.I.Y., make your own pancakes and breakfast joint that provides customers with all of the ingredients and logistics to use their creative freedom to cook. Each table includes a built-in griddle and the menu provides choices for batter, toppings and even sides, like eggs, potatoes and bacon.
In addition to not having to worry about cleaning up after cooking, the pancakes are ALL YOU CAN EAT. Burned a pancake? No big deal. Your pancake isn’t as round as your brother’s? We can make another. Breakfast get cold because you were cutting your toddler’s food? Add another dollop to the griddle!
The Pfunky Griddle is beyond kid friendly and is a great place to bring kids of all ages, from picky toddlers to growing boys threatening to eat you out of house and home.
Batter is available in organic 5 grain, white and gluten free, and toppings range from M&Ms and Nutella to fruit, preserves and nuts.
We opted for coconut flakes, peach preserves and a blend of berries.
They also have a great coffee and espresso menu.
And, if you’re not feeling the whole “cook for yourself” thing, they offer an off the griddle menu of lunch items like soups, sandwiches and salads.
The Pfunky Griddle is open Tuesday through Sunday and has two locations, one in Nashville and one in Murfreesboro:
