It’s almost December! Can you believe it? There are a lot of different fun activities that happen in Nashville (and the surrounding areas) during the month of December but it’s always hard to keep track of what’s going on when. Look no further! We have compiled a great list of must do activities for the whole family during December. Check them out and mark your calendars!
Lighting of the Green
December 1 at 4pm
Lipscomb University hosts this event for the community every year and this year will be the 10th anniversary! Festivities include pictures with Santa, a Merry Marketplace, and lighting of the campus Christmas tree. You want to be sure and attend the free concert at 5:30pm which features Amy Grant and a few other fabulous performers. Check out the website for more details.
Holiday LIGHTS at Cheekwood
November 27 – January 3. Open every night from 5pm-10pm (except Dec 25).
This is a must see event! Cheekwood LIGHTS is over 750,000 twinkly lights that take over many of their lovely gardens. The stroll through the gardens is quite magical. The lights extend up into the mansion where you will also see many beautiful Christmas trees. There are also live reindeer and pictures with Santa. Visit the website for details. This event does require a ticket.
The Nashville Christmas Parade
December 5 at 10am
This year is the 62nd annual parade. The parade is filled with floats, balloons, music, and more. The route starts on Broadway, winds through downtown, and ends across the river in East Nashville. This is a fun event for adults and especially for children.
Porter Flea Holiday Market
December 5, 10am-5pm
This holiday event features local vendors that specialize in handmade modern goods. Stop by and find a unique gift for someone on your Christmas list.
The Dancing Lights of Christmas
November 6 – January 3. Open nightly from 5pm-10pm.
Jellystone Park is hosting its 6th annual drive through light show. Tune your radio into a specific radio station and listen to Christmas tunes while watching the Christmas lights/displays dance along.
Dickens of a Christmas
December 12 – 13, open Saturday from 10am-5pm and open Sunday from 11am-5pm.
This annual street festival takes place in downtown Franklin and recreates the time of Charles Dickens. There are musicians, dancers, and characters that fill the streets. Check out the website for more details.
Country Cove Christmas Tree Farm
December 3 – December 20 (Thursdays through Sundays only)
If you want to head out to a farm where you can cut down your own Christmas Tree, Country Cove is the place for you. Located in Murfreesboro, TN on 35 acres are trees upon trees upon trees. This would be a great family experience! They have pre-cut trees if you want to leave the cutting up to them. They offer complimentary hot cocoa and apple cider! Check the website for specific days and times of open operation.
