We are super excited to bring you our next momboss interview!
Meet Lori of hey LUCY JANE
Hey, Lori! Tell us about your kids. What are their names and ages?
Two girls – Lucy just turned 3 and Lola is 10 months.
How long have you been in business?
We’re brand new! Only since January of 2015!
Why did you start your business? What inspired you or pushed you to decide to go into business for yourself?
The inspiration for these t-shirts came from my frustration over the available shirts for my two little girls. I was constantly finding myself drifting into the boys section of stores and wondering why they get all the cool shirts. I get that little girls are cute, sweet, and pretty as a princess – but shouldn’t we also be teaching them that they are brave, tough, strong, tenacious, athletic, and fearless as well? My goal is that these shirts are not only something neat to wear, but collaboration with other organizations to empower girls at a young age.
Your tip for moms trying to be mom bosses too?
Go for it! But, don’t work yourself to death. Take care of yourself so that you can take care of your kids. A happy (rested) mom is what your kids deserve!
How do you relax or wind down after a long day/week?
On weeknights I enjoy researching business ideas, partners for collaboration, and finding other companies and organizations with a mission similar to that of Hey Lucy Jane. On the weekends, I run, run, and run some more. This is where I can actually tune out my day to day schedules, laundry and grocery lists, and spend my time thinking about what I want to do for the week for my business.
What is your favorite thing to do in Nashville with your kids?
We’ve actually only been in Nashville 7 months, but we love to hike and play outside. My girls love Pinkerton Park in Franklin, and exploring Bowie Park and Nature Center in Fairview.
What is your favorite place to eat around town?
I am a pizza lover! My favorite is Mellow Mushroom in Franklin, and they have family friendly BINGO on Wednesday nights. I also love the Grilled Pear Pizza and Bacon infused bloody marys at Gray’s on Main.
