Have you ever looked at someone else’s diaper bag and wondered “What’s she got in there?” I am a classic over packer! I know I’m not the only one. Remember Lindsey’s bag?
I like to think that I am prepared for any situation and my husband and I still enjoy going on spur of the moment day trips or taking time to hit an awesome park for an impromptu picnic!
Here’s what’s inside our bag! (This post contains some affiliate links. That just means should you shop from our links, we make a little bit to help keep the lights on, but it doesn’t cost you anything!)
My little girl Parker is almost one! She is a pretty laid back kid and since she enjoys people watching we get away with eating out and lingering in public places without too much extra effort. Still though – I like to make sure that I have some things to keep her occupied should she get a little restless.
I keep the gold standard of her favorite toys on hand most of the time. She’s really into “reading” books right now, so a couple of her favorites (one from our toddler book club) usually keep her attention for a bit. I also keep our sophie giraffe close, and a teether too. If we’re outside we can play with bubbles and I have the large quilt in the background in the car at all times so that we can throw it down on the ground if needed. She’s a huge fan of her wubanub and I found that I liked the Carter’s brand lightweight swaddle blankets even more than their more expensive counterparts, you can use them to cover a highchair, create shade or even use as a nursing cover.
Since it’s summertime, we always have sunscreen and sunglasses along with baby wipes, Boogie Wipes, gentle lotions, diaper cream and hand sanitizer. I also bring Parker’s favorite sipper cup to fill with water if we’re out to lunch or dinner. Since we cloth diaper I usually have three or more diapers on hand at anytime should the need arise and I just LOVE the Huggies brand reusable wipes clutch, what a great invention!
For snack time, I usually keep some baby puff snacks around and now that she’s eating more solid foods I love the various brands of pouch foods. We’ve also picked up some more ‘on-the-go’ snacks like toddler biscuits and cookies as a treat. A little tip: when traveling we portion out Parker’s formula into the bottle we will be using and slide it down into a quart sized bag with the exact amount of water needed to make that bottle. It travels so easily and is great for when we go to church and leave others to feed her. Making little bottle bags like that really take the guess work out of formula feeding.
