Hi fellow mommas! My name is Ashley Hammer, and I have an almost 3 month old little man named Ian.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tell us about your business.<\/p>\n

I own and operate an online women\u2019s clothing boutique called Hazel and Chic Boutique. Our mission is to provide unique, affordable and quality merchandise for women to show their heart, personality and passion through their own personal style!<\/em><\/p>\n

How long have you been in business?<\/p>\n

I launched Hazel and Chic in October 2012.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Why did you start your business?\u00a0What inspired you or pushed you to decide to go into business for yourself?<\/p>\n

Growing up as a taller than average girl, I desired to wear certain trends, but often struggled to find clothing that would fit my frame the way I wanted. As a believer of the idea that all women should be able to express themselves through what they wear, I dreamed of one day opening my own boutique. In 2012, I was in the position to make a career change, and I knew my husband and I were planning to start on our family in the next few years, so we decided that it was the perfect time for me to make that leap to open my online boutique. My husband has always been my number one fan, so he has encouraged me every step of the way, which has made it so much easier to pursue this dream. I also have a very supportive family and mentor who have always stood beside me and helped me make my dream a reality. It truly has been such a blessing to have the support that I do.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"MOMBOSS-<\/a><\/p>\n

What is the most difficult thing about\u00a0running a business while you have kids?<\/p>\n

Being so new to the mom thing, it has been challenging for me to learn how to juggle a new baby, housework and Hazel and Chic. It can be really tempting to just hold him all day and not get a single thing done! But, I am slowly learning how to plan out my week to where I am able to balance the different aspects of my personal life and work life. <\/em><\/p>\n

What is the best<\/span> part of running a business and having kids?<\/p>\n

The best part definitely has to be making my own schedule and knowing that I can spend the time with Ian that I desire to and also keep my business going.<\/em><\/p>\n

Your tip for moms trying to be mom bosses too?<\/p>\n

I would say to find a routine that works best for you. Not every business owner and mother is going to have the same schedule as you and that\u2019s okay. You have to find your own groove and figure out what hours work best for you to be the most productive. It is definitely hard to find that balance–I am still working hard to find mine–but I know it is so important to do so (and that includes giving yourself YOU time in that routine!).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

How do you relax or wind down after a long day\/week?<\/p>\n

I love to workout to relieve the stress and tension of the day. I am so fortunate to have a husband who will come home and take care of Ian for an hour or two, so I can go to the gym and have some time to myself. It really helps for me to have that hour to focus on my health and be able to unwind.<\/em><\/p>\n

What is your favorite thing to do in Nashville with your kids?<\/p>\n

Right now since Ian\u2019s still so young, we love to just go to the park and walk around for an hour or two. Our favorite parks are Percy Warner and Radnor.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

What is your favorite place to eat around town?<\/p>\n

This is definitely a hard one with all of the delicious places that are in Nashville, but right now I LOVE Edley\u2019s\u2026I am obsessed with their nachos!<\/em><\/p>\n
