I’m fully prepared for you to think this post is on the ridiculous side of things, but let me explain…

When my son started going to “school” a couple of years ago, the only way to get him to calm down at drop off was the promise of an after-school snack in the car. So, the habit was formed- right or wrong. Now, he doesn’t need the bribe, but it’s our thing. Mommy arrives with snack in tow. I used to stop and get a treat or try to remember something from home, but sometimes I would forget or run out of time and then I was in trouble. So, the snack box was born!

Our after school snack box stays in the car and I am never snack-less at school pickup. This is also a great idea for road trips!

I keep our box stocked with different things depending on what the kids are into at the moment, but some things that always seem to stay in the rotation are snacks from Annie’s and Plum Organics.

My daughter loves the Plum Organics snacks the most. And you know if brother has a snack, she needs one too! The Mashups are a perfect handheld snack for her and I love how they sneak some veggies in! And no added sugar- win! While I originally thought my son would love the Jammy Sammys, turns out she ends up eating most of those too. I love both options because they are made from organic ingredients, no GMOs, no high fructose corn syrup, BPA-free packaging, and are packed with good stuff for the kiddos. In the world of pre-packaged snacks, these are a winner.

Annie’s Homegrown snacks are another major winner for us. Who doesn’t love those cheddar bunnies? We always have a pack of these with us- whether in the box, packed in the kids’ lunchbox, or in my purse for an emergency snack for mom. Not only are they delicious, but they are free from artificial flavors, synthetic colors, or synthetic preservatives. And they have cheese. Real cheese. Enough said.

With school back in session, I’m getting our snack box ready to go and stocked for the first few weeks!

Tell us: Do you bring your kids an after school snack or am I crazy? What are their favorite things to munch in the car?

I received these products for review as part of the Savvy Sassy Moms Product Scouts program. All opinions are my own.

I’m fully prepared for you to think this post is on the ridiculous side of things, but let me explain… When my son started going to “school” a couple of years ago, the only way to get him to calm down at drop off was the promise of an after-school snack in the car.
