When Toyota reached out to us about hosting a book drive, we jumped at the opportunity to help bring books to children in the Nashville area! Ride for Reading was our selected charity, their mission is to create healthy and literate children in low-income areas of Nashville. Ride for Reading volunteers bike to schools to deliver books so that every child will have access to literature.

The Book Drive was held at Bound Booksellers where guests were treated to Summer’s Sweet Shoppe mini book cookies and High Brow Coffee. Everyone who donated books got a raffle ticket to win a $25 Bound gift card. The children enjoyed checking out the new books and playing bean bags outside. Over the course of a few days, over 630 books were donated! Thanks for our friends at Pure Barre Westhaven and B Fab Fitness for being alternate drop off locations.

Toyota graciously sponsored the book drive and treated me to an Avalon for the week to use to collect and deliver books! My family has LOVED this car! The kids have begged me to take them on extra rides around town so they could have the sun roof down! Can you spy Owen peaking out of the backseat? Lily Caroline enjoyed looking through one of the books as we were waiting for the Ride for Reading Celebration to begin! Good thing the trunk was extra large to fit all of the many books! We filled up the trunk and the backseat with boxes of books!

After collecting books throughout the week, we ended with a big celebration at Shayne Elementary. Students, teachers and family members gathered outside as the Ride for Reading bikers paraded into the driveway! The students cheered and even sang a song for everyone! Each child met volunteers in the cafeteria where books were placed and got to select a book of their very own. The students were thrilled with the variety of amazing books and immediately started looking through them.
