Spring isn’t officially here yet, but, if you’re like me, that doesn’t stop you from shopping for the upcoming weather from Heaven. One thing I’ve always refused to do is lose my sense of style after I had kids. I’m not saying my style sense was great pre-kids, but I aim to maintain my level of no-so-put-together looks post kids.
Sure, I wear yoga pants a lot an appropriate amount (not to yoga), but I try to mix in some real clothes, too. One thing I love about these accessories is that you can wear most of them with yoga pants, to work, out with your friends, or when you’re wrestling kiddos at the park.
Mom’s Must-have Spring Accessories:
Sunglasses
These are a staple for me. If my shades are on point, I can probably conquer the world (when combined with a great manicure). If springtime for you means plenty of outdoor playdates, then great sunglasses are a must. These are some of my favorite options in various price points.
Flats
I realize many people love to whip out the flip-flops in spring, but I’m just not a huge fan. Sure, I’ll wear them on occasion, but there are SO MANY great shoe options these days. If I’m at the park, you’ll probably find me in a pair of sneakers, but if I managed to get jeans on for the day, a great pair of flats are my jam.
Rain Gear
Ok, so spring isn’t perfect. It’s going to rain and you’re going to need an awesome rain gear. I’m not sure if it’s my Florida roots or just my general craziness, but I love cute rain gear. Why use something plain when you can use something with flamingos and flowers printed on it? Also, those clear umbrellas are the best. You can hold them down over your head and still see where you’re going.
Diaper Bag
Anyone else hate traditional diaper bags as much as me? Maybe it’s that I’ve had to carry kid crap around for 5 years now, but I am over it. Also, my neck and shoulders are over the weekly adjustments at the chiro. Then, as if it was a gift from the diaper bag genie, I discovered Fawn Designs. She makes these amazing diaper bags. You can wear it as a backpack (which is totally on trend for spring) or it has a shoulder strap. There are pockets galore and beautiful gold hardware. The best part? It doesn’t even look like a diaper bag. I actually use it for everything- work, purse, kids- you name it, this bag is with me. No one is even paying me to say this. I spent my own money and bought this and I love it and I want you to love it too.
A Watch
You may be like, “Lindsey, I don’t need a watch! I have a phone and it has the time on it.” I’m just going to say, you need this Arvo watch for more than just practicalities. Although, it is very practical to have the time, day, and date right on you wrist. You need this watch because it is so pretty and will make any outfit look instantly fancier. I’m obsessed with the minimal design. Since it isn’t an over-the-top accessory, I can easily throw it on with any outfit (ahem, yoga pants) and look slightly more put-together than I really am. That’s a #momwin if I ever heard one. OH, and you can change the bands out to different colors. I’m currently eyeing that blush pink one.
What about you? What are you favorite essentials for spring? I’m always on the lookout for something fun!
