Dear Knoxville, I’m sorry that I’ve mainly only passed through your beautiful town! I took a quick trip earlier this week and loved exploring! I didn’t realize that there was SO much to see, do and eat!
I stayed at Tennessean Hotel, which was the perfect location! I was able to walk into the heart of Downtown and my room had a gorgeous view of the Sunsphere and waterfront park! The Tennessean has 82 guest rooms, each with personalized service and steeped in southern hospitality! I loved all of the local art installations throughout the hotel and nods to the Tennessee River! I learned that Knoxville is referred to as The Maker City after Etsy chose the city to host of of their first Maker City Summits. It was also convenient being able to grab my morning coffee at Perk at Maker Exchange and have dinner onsite at Park Tavern. The property is within walking distance to the UT Campus as well, making visits to the university a cinch!
I started my visit at the Sunsphere, which is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the World’s Fair that was held in Knoxville! I enjoyed reading about the history and seeing the amazing city views! Seeing the memorabilia was so fun and listening to their 80’s playlist!!
Next up on the itinerary was a visit to Historic Westwood. This historic home was full of charm, interesting architecture and of course, I loved the gardens. Don’t you wish that the walls could talk?!
I finished up my visit by strolling through the adorable Market Square! Market Square is full of adorable shops and tasty restaurants! I didn’t realize that Knoxville was such a foodie town! I’ve only had lunch twice in Knoxville and both times have been at The Tomato Head, a decision I DO NOT REGRET!
I cannot wait to go back to Knoxville and spend more time. Here are a few other ideas for visiting Knoxville.
