This year, I’ve had a goal of reading more! I even started The Nashville Book Club to meet others who enjoy reading. Sadly, like everything else, we haven’t been able to meet in person but have enjoyed sharing books together on Facebook and Instagram.
I thought I’d share a few of my favorite reads so far this year
The Two Lives of Lydia Byrd: I loved the characters in this book! Lydia Byrd goes through two alternate “worlds” after losing her fiancé. In one “life”, she is moving on without Teddy and the other, she gets to see what their life is like if he was still alive. I didn’t expect to feel so sad during the book but it was filled with happy moments and I found myself rooting for Lydia to be happy again!
The Scent Keeper: This coming of age story follows a girl with an unusual past. Her father was a scent keeper and they live in isolation on a remote island. After a tragic accident, Emmeline discovers the truth and wants to find out more about her family. This was different from most books that I usually pick up but I thought it was a compelling story!
Modern Parents, Vintage Values: Sissy Goff and Melissa Trevathan are two mentors and counselors that I look up to and highly respect. In Modern Parents, Vintage Values, Goff and Trevathan are sharing insight on so many important parenting topics like children and technology, depression, anxiety and instilling respect in an entitled world. I cannot recommend this book enough!
In Five Years: This is one of my favorite books I’ve read in a while! I read this one in a day! The main character, Dannie has her life all planned out until she has a vivid dream that changes everything! This book will keep you guessing as to what’s going to happen! It definitely surprised me!
What should I read next?
