If you’re still looking for some fun for the kids this summer, Camp Brick offers summer LEGO camps for ages 4-14. There are many different options based on interest and age. While attending Camp Brick your child will learn problem solving skills, become creative thinkers, and learn to work in organized team activities. We got to sit down with the owner, Jenny Thayer to learn more about her and Camp Brick.

I’m Jenny Thayer, the owner of Camp Brick, LLC. I’m a single mother to my 8 year old son, Gunnar.
Why did you start Camp Brick? What was your inspiration/ reason? How did you come up with the idea?
I started the camp 5 years ago as a part-time opportunity to own my own business and out of a love for working with children. I went to school for Early Childhood Education in Boston Massachusetts.
My son Gunnar was an inspiration for starting the business. He was diagnosed as Autistic at age 3. He had low muscle tone in his hands and arms. Spending 30 minutes a day of working with LEGO helped his writing skills, zipping, and snapping. There were very few other activities that Gunnar would sit and do for 30-60 minutes at a time. LEGO was perfect for him! With Gunnar’s schedule in and out of therapy from age 3-5 years, having my own business gave me the freedom and flexibility to put his needs first.
Is Camp Brick for everyone?
Camp Brick’s first summer in business 136 kids visited 3 weeks of summer camp with little or no advertising. Now 4 years later, over 500 kids participate in 8 weeks of camp at several Nashville area locations, as well as hundreds of kids who participate in after school enrichment programs and LEGO Clubs.
Children ages 4 years to 14 years old can now enjoy programs such as LEGO Robotics, LEGO building, Minecraft, LEGO Space Camp, and LEGO Magician Camp.
Camp Brick even offers a specialized Pre Building Blocks program for ages 4-6 years who are just starting to play with LEGO, but can be best supported in small groups with an emphasis on Occupational Therapeutic Activities to help them with hand eye coordination, special concepts, and fine motor skills. This camp curriculum was written by a licensed OT professional specifically for Camp Brick.
