The kids may not have been able to go to summer camp but we decided to make a Family Fun Day at Deer Run! Deer Run is a Christian summer camp and retreat center just 30 minutes south of Nashville. Deer Run provides day, adventure and summer camps (ages 5- 12th grade), family camp, hosts retreats and meeting facilities and many other retreats.

Deer Run is inviting families to a enjoy a day (or overnight) at camp exploring 100 acres, swimming or playing in Swing Valley Lake, canoeing, trying out archery, zip lining, petal carts and so many other other activities. You can find the details on Family Adventures here. You can experience Deer Run for the day for only $15 per person or overnight accommodations are also available.

First up: We headed to Spring Valley lake for water fun!

We could’ve spent all day at the lake!

Spring Valley Lake has a giant slide, Corcl boats, canoes, a sandy beach, areas to fish and a Blob that brings so many laughs!

So much fun!

Families can also sign up for additional activities like archery, slingshots and BB guns!

Owen was excited to get a Bull’s Eye!

I’m not sure if the kids or dads enjoyed it more!

LC’s first time shooting a BB gun! She loved it but we had to make sure everyone was out of her way!

Next up: Valley Zip Lines! Mama was too scared to try out the zip lines but the kids were so excited, masks and all! I can guarantee they will not forget zipping across the property!

On your mark, get set, gooooo….These petal carts were one of their favorite activities! They raced around the track and tried to come in first place.

While we were at Deer Run, we toured some of their cabins and I am so IMPRESSED! They cabins are so nice and not rugged like cabins I’ve stayed in before.

Deer Run offers private suites, cabins, a private home that sleeps 8-10, lakeview cabins and Cedar Point cabins.

The Lakeview Cabins have both bunks and a full bed with a kitchen.

The dining area in Eagle’s Nest has Bible verses and clocks that coordinate!

Eagle’s Nest would make for a fun place for friends or families to gather for a weekend away! Eagle’s Nest has three bedrooms and a porch that you’d love to sip your morning coffee or hang out on the hammock!

Our families had some friendly competitions with wiffle ball, volleyball and 9 Square! There are so many things to do at Deer Run!

The Creekside Eatery makes it so convenient to grab lunch, dinner or snacks there! There are plenty of picnic tables around to enjoy meals outside. You’ll also be able to enjoy a sweet treat with scoops of ice cream!

After a full day of family fun, we ended our adventure with a campfire, s’mores and not so spooky “ghost” stories!

We made so many special memories as a family and with friends. Spending the day outside and just playing was so special! We cannot recommend Deer Run enough! This is a family-owned property with the sweetest owners! Keep an eye on their page for upcoming events and other ways to experience Deer Run! We will certainly be going back again soon and can’t wait for our kids to go for the week next summer (hopefully)!
