Sometimes you just need to take off to the woods and spend a little time unplugged. One sunny Sunday, we took a day trip to Fierry Gizzard Trail in Tracy City, Tennessee, about an hour and a half from Nashville.
The trail is considered one of the top 25 hiking trails in the United States and our family agrees! We hiked the Day Loop trail with views of waterfalls, cascading streams, rocky gorges, lush woodlands and panoramic overlooks!
The Day Loop was an easy hike for my kids, however there were a few areas with significant drop offs so we had to use extra caution. There were so many areas to explore, bridges to dance on and treasures like enormous leaves to find.
We will definitely plan another trip when the warmth of spring arrives. The trail offers many sources of water to play, explore and skip rocks.
My wild ones comes alive outside and make every day an adventure! If you’re looking for more information on the trail, check out Tennessee State Parks for more details.
“Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.”

This is one of my favorite places to go close to Nashville! I grew up hiking in the Smoky Mountains so this trail takes me back to those times hiking in East Tennessee!
