LC and I loaded up for a fun adventure in Owensboro, Kentucky! Around 2.5 hours from Nashville, this is the perfect quick getaway!
This quaint town is located on the Ohio River and full of lots of charm.
We checked into the Hampton Inn Suites on the Waterfront and were amazed at our gorgeous view.
Located right on the river and within walking distance to Smothers Park and downtown.
We saw so many people walking the trail and riding bikes.
The Owensboro Trolley is free and picked up right in front of the hotel. It was a fun way to take a ride around and see Downtown Owensboro.
The Riverwalk was so pretty with river views, fountains, swings and they often have live music.
LC said that Smothers Park is the BEST PLAYGROUND SHE’S EVER BEEN TO! Right on the Riverwalk, this playground had swings, rock walls, and LC spent hours on this playground!
There’s also a splash pad area and they sell concessions like popcorn, candy, drinks and ice cream!
The Museum of Science and History is also located downtown. Admission is only $5 per person!
The museum had so many neat old race cars and we loved seeing the interactive train display.
The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame was sadly closed on the day we were there but we can’t wait to go back and explore! They offer live shows on Saturdays and you can play any bluegrass instrument you want when you enter the exhibit space.
And of course, we’re always excited to find fun murals! Downtown Owensboro had several!
We also found the Owensboro Herb Society garden with beautiful plants and flowers. Felt like a secret, little garden.
Creme Coffee House is the cutest coffee shop! It felt like a coffee shop from a show or movie! They had seasonal coffee and other drinks!
Owensboro was such a fun town! LC literally cried when we had to leave! It was low key, affordable and just so much fun! We enjoyed walking around downtown, grabbing treats from Creme, having our favorite pizza at Mellow Mushroom and just enjoying a Mommy/Daughter getaway!
We played Hangman (which is a terrible game if you think about it) over dinner and she wrote “Best Friends Forever” as her phrase. That meant the absolute world to me! Spending time with this girl and making memories is a JOY! I hope that we will be able to see so many places together over the years.
If you’re looking for a quick trip from Nashville and one that won’t break the bank, we enjoyed Owensboro and can’t wait to take our boys back there sometime soon!
