Charleston is a special town for us! My husband went to college there and I began my first job out of college there! We love Nashville but Charleston has a part of our hearts too! We try to go back at least once a year for a visit. I wanted to share some of our favorite places.
The Old Village in Mt. Pleasant is my favorite area to spend an afternoon. You may recognize it from scenes from The Notebook.
This quaint village is full of southern charm and gorgeous houses. We love grabbing a drink from Pitt Street Pharmacy’s Soda Fountain. It’s like taking a step back in time.
Then, we stroll down to the Pitt Street Bridge. Pack a picnic lunch, a good book, fishing polls and just prepare for time to relax with beautiful, Charleston views. The Old Village is close to Sullivan’s Island and The Isle of Palm if you’d like to spend some time with your toes in the sand. Poe’s on Sullivan’s is the ultimate beachside spot for a burger!
Of course, you can’t go to Charleston without seeing Rainbow Row and the Battery. These iconic homes are not only incredibly pretty but so historic as well. You can walk by them on your own or hop on a horse-drawn carriage ride.
A few short blocks away is King Street! I used to work at Jcrew on King! This famous street is lined with so many great shops! You’ll also find the Historic Charleston City Market closely with handmade vendors and unique Charleston finds.
This city is full of delicious food, shops, activities and the perfect place for a getaway! Here are some of our top recommendations!

Loved reading this! My husband and I are currently planning a trip to the east coast for this fall, and this helps a TON!! We’re going to start in Wilmington (have family there), head to Charleston, then on to Savannah.

Loved these ideas! We are going there next summer. Thoughts of some moderate resorts/condos to stay at one of the beaches listed?

We usually find a rental through VRBO on Isle of Palms. Wild Dunes is another area to check out for rentals!
