Join Mayor Karl Dean and Walk/Bike Nashville for this free event that will open streets in the Gulch to people and close them to cars. Families and community members are invited into the street itself and encouraged to bring bikes, strollers, skateboards, non-motorized scooters, hula hoops and dogs on leashes. Event activities to include:
• Free, mini CrossFit Gulch classes at the new fitness stations under the Church Street Bridge
• Free 10-minute classes from Barre3
• Short complimentary classes showcasing the wide variety of fitness classes Metro Parks instructors offer year-round, including:
o 11:20 – 11:35 – Boot Camp with Copernicus Johnson
o 11:40 – 11:55 – Yoga with Mina Kashani
o 12:00 – 12:15 – Pound with Kathy Moore

• Pop-up shop and barber shop quartet from Pioneer Gentlemen’s Barber (which will open in the Gulch in August)
• Live music stage featuring performances by Lynn Taylor & the Barflies (11 a.m.), The Shy (12 p.m.) and Supershaker (1 p.m.) on the Hawkins Partners Music Stage on Division near 8th Avenue
• Metro Water Truck
• Adoptable pets and doggie watering/cooling area from Metro Animal Care and Control
• Chalk artists with opportunity for kids to participate through providing sidewalk chalk to draw their own pictures on the streets of the Gulch

The event will begin at 11 a.m. on 11th Avenue under the Church Street Bridge with a ribbon-cutting program celebrating its transformation into a half-mile Complete Street. Following the ribbon cutting celebration, Mayor Dean will lead event attendees onto the Complete Street for a celebratory Open Streets Parade to bike, walk or skate into the event on the new Complete Street. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the ribbon cutting and participate in the celebratory parade.
