I read about Fairhope years ago in a book and on our way back from a beach trip, we decided to stop by. We fell in love with this charming, Southern town with blooming flowers on every corner, the Bayside views and quaint downtown.

After months of quarantine, we decided to take a “working vacation” to the Bay and soak up some time by the water. We enjoyed swimming, fishing, taking the boat in the rivers and ocean, eating delicious sea food (mostly take out or outside seating) and having way too many snowcones!
We rented a little house on the Bay, sadly it’s now been sold. However, check VRBO or Airbnb for houses. The Grand Resort has been voted one of Southern Living’s Best Southern Resorts for many years! The resort has a beautiful pool, bay areas with sand, kayak and bike rentals, outdoor games and a daily history lesson with a cannon firing. We visited friends who were staying there and it is dreamy!
You’ll definitely want to add this adorable, small town to your travel list. Here are a few of our favorite places.

*One thing to be aware of is that you will need to check water safety to see if certain areas are safe to swim in. Some areas have been known to have high levels of bacteria in them making them unsafe to swim.
